This one qualifies as best cover song in Any genre.
Cash had an uncanny way of taking someone else's song and making it his
own, especially in his later days with American Recordings. For
example, I never knew Soundgarden did "Rusty Cage", let alone five
years before Johnny recorded it for "Unchained". His "Personal Jesus"
is pretty good - IMO better than Depeche Mode's original but not as
good as Marilyn Manson's cover.
